MY LATEST RESEARCH

Amy Non and I recently had an article accepted to American Anthropologist. It will be published in the December 2015 edition. It discussed current and future opportunites for anthropologists to incorpoate epigenetic methods into their research.

Using data from New Zealand I found that racial discrimination experience was associated with maternal cortisol, a stress hormone, in pregnancy. In addition, maternal experience of racial discrimination was also associated with cortisol measured in offspring. This is the first study to identify impacts of racial discrimination on infant cortisol. You can find the scientific article here as well as a popular science article I wrote on the topic here
